The perfect choice! Your Licensed Guide and your driver are one and the same! Whilst an “in-house" Driver-Guide” can give general information about the main monuments or places of interest from the outside, our “Licensed Driver-Guide”, who has an official Guide-Interpreter license, will be able to accompany you all the way; sharing his complete knowledge of French History & Culture. He can accompany you inside numerous famous sites, notably: Versailles, Louvre Museum, Sainte Chapel, Abbey of Mont St Michel, Loire Valley Castles, bringing to life each of these places that have helped shape France’s history and culture.
Your Licensed Driver-Guide will pick you up at your hotel, or your apartment. He will then escort you to either Auvers-sur-Oise or Giverny, sharing with you his knowledge & passion for this region, driving you in a private deluxe air-conditioned vehicle. It is your Tour, totally custom-made to fit your desires: YOUR way, and nobody else's.
We tend to start the Tour by going first to Giverny, however if you wish we could start with Auvers-sur-Oise, please stipulate this while booking. This private guided visit is the astute choice! Your Licensed Driver-Guide will take you on a pleasant drive to Giverny, blessed by the unique light of the Seine Valley, situated 50 miles to the north-west of Paris; is on the doorstep of Normandy. Go back in time while visiting Claude Monet's house, where he lived for 43 years. A world in which your senses as well as your imagination will be running wild, this world in which Monet conceived both his flower and water gardens, since established as true artistic masterpieces. You will see flowerbeds, oriental vegetation, romantic Weeping Willows, the famous Japanese green bridge and Claude Monet's greatest creation: Water Lilies. Also, you will visit the Musée des Impressionnistes; formerly known as the American Artists Museum, a Franco-American tribute to arts' history, and the "Hotel Baudy", famous for its tenants such as: Cézanne, Renoir, Sisley, Rodin or even Mary Cassatt...
As it is a Full-Day Tour, ask your driver where you would like to have lunch, depending on your tastes and budget, he will find a place which will suit you perfectly.
You will then head to Auvers-sur-Oise, a sleepy, wonderful and typical French town, situated 42 miles to the north-west of Paris. During the 19th century, due to its beautiful landscapes and villas, far from the industrialization but close enough to Paris, Auvers-sur-Oise became a place of excellence for painters, including Paul Cézanne, Charles-François Daubigny, Camille Pissarro and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. However the town will always be remembered for one particular character: Vincent Van Gogh. Renting the room number #5 for 3.50 francs a day at the Auberge Ravoux, where he spent the last 70 days of his life, from the 21st of May to the 29th of July 1890. Painting as if there was no tomorrow (over 80 paintings and 64 sketches), this became his last demure when at the age of 37 he took his own life by shooting himself in the chest and died from his wounds 3 days afterwards. Your personal Licensed Driver-Guide will bring Van Gogh and his heritage to life, accompanying you to the Auberge Ravoux (classified as a historical monument in 1985), and to Auvers-sur-Oise's surrounding landscapes, which inspired Van Gogh’s prolific final period, as well as numerous other illustrious artists.
Once your trip through some of France’s prettiest landscape reaches its end, your Licensed Driver-Guide will drive you back safely to your hotel, or apartment.
